Alex Nwokolo: Untitled

11 - 19 June 2011
The Omenka Gallery of The Ben Enwonwu Foundation is proud to present Untitled, an exhibition of recent paintings by Alex Nwokolo, a leading Nigerian contemporary artist. The exhibition will run from June 11 to 19, 2011.

This remarkable collection of paintings features works drawn from Nwokolo’s broad oeuvre, encompassing several themes explored throughout his largely experimental career including identity, sexuality and social re-organisation. Here, Nwokolo is preoccupied with varied surface qualities, achieved with thick impasto and by manipulating discarded cloths, sometimes whole shirts and glued pieces of newspaper.
The exhibition, Untitled, highlights the versatility of the artist, provokes thought and allows the audience a rare opportunity to interact and bond with the works.

Award-winning, Alex Nwokolo holds a Higher National Diploma from Auchi Polytechnic and a Masters of Fine Art from the University of Benin. He has exhibited extensively, nationally and abroad and continues to be one of the most exciting artists working in Nigeria today.

Through exhibitions, education and debate, the Foundation continues to encourage the creation, enjoyment and appreciation of modern and contemporary African art.
